Already thirty years ago Dr.Marshall has built and sold Cathodoluminescence (CL) equipment in the U.S.A. and Great Britain. I was among the first who be-came interested in CL research for minerals and gemstones in Austria and bought such an instrument 1984. Then, it was called Luminoscope. Today it is named Reliotron. To investigate minerals, I had to use a large compartment that could house samples up to 6 x 3.5 x 3 cm placed on an easily moveable sledge. This instrument I have still in use and it is in good working order.
