  作者：J.D.FORTNER,D.Y.LYON,C.M.SAYES,A.M.BOYD,J.C.FALKNER,E.M.HOTZE,L.B.ALEMANY,Y.J.TAO,W.GUO,K.D.AUSMAN,V.L.COLVIN,ANDJ.B.HUGHES　?。―epartmentofCivilandEnvironmentalEngineering,RiceUniversity,Houston,Texas77005,DepartmentofChemistry,RiceUniversity,Houston,Texas77005,DepartmentofBiochemistryandCellBiology,RiceUniversity,Houston,Texas77005,CenterforBiologicalandEnvironmentalNanotechnology,RiceUniversity,Houston,Texas77005,andSchoolofCivilandEnvironmentalEngineering,GeorgiaInstituteofTechnology,Atlanta,Georgia30332）　　摘要：Uponcontactwithwater,underavarietyofconditions,C60spontaneouslyformsastableaggregatewithnanoscaledimensions（d=25-500nm）,termedhere“nano-C60”.Thecolor,hydrophobicity,andreactivityofindividualC60aresubstantiallyalteredinthisaggregateform.Herein,weprovideconclusivelinesofevidencedemonstratingthatinsolutiontheseaggregatesarecrystallineinorderandremainasunderivatizedC60throughouttheformation/stabilizationprocessthatcanlaterbechemicallyreversed.ParticlesizecanbeaffectedbyformationparameterssuchasratesandthepHofthewateraddition.Onceformed,nano-C60remainsstableinsolutionatorbelowionicstrengthsof0.05/formonths.Inadditiontodemonstratingaggregateformationandstabilityoverawiderangeofconditions,resultssuggestthatprokaryoticexposuretonano-C60atrelativelylowconcentrationsisinhibitory,indicatedbylackofgrowth（≥0.4ppm）anddecreasedaerobicrespirationrates（4ppm）.Thisworkdemonstratesthefactthattheenvironmentalfate,distribution,andbiologicalriskassociatedwiththisimportantclassofengineerednanomaterialswillrequireamodelthataddressesnotonlythepropertiesofbulkC60butalsothatoftheaggregateformgeneratedinaqueousmedia.[詳細(xì)]
