Injectable hydrogels with in situ-forming hydrophobic domains: oligo(D,L-lactide) modified poly(olig Injectable,insitu-gel領(lǐng)nanostructuredhydrogelshavebeenpreparedfromhydrazideandaldehydefunctionalizedpolymerprecursorsbasedonacopolymerofoligo(ethyleneglycol)methacrylate(OEGMA)andanoligo(lacticacid)macromonomer(OLA)withvaryinglacticacidchainlengths.Theresultinghydrogelscontainamixofchemical(hydrazonebondformationbetweenhydrazideandaldehydegroups)andphysical(hydrophobicinteractionsbetweenOLAchains)cross-linkswhichformcompetitivelyasafunctionoftheOLAchainlengthanddensity.AnincreaseintheOLAchainlengthanddensityresultsintheformationofmorephysicalcross-linksandfewerchemicalcross-links.Tuningtherelativeprevalenceofphysicalandchemicalcross-linkformationfacilitatedlargelyindependenttuningofgelmechanicsrelativetogelswel領(lǐng)anddegradation.Small-angleneutronscatteringoftheseOLA-containinghydrogelsrevealsamicrostructureconsistingofassociativehydrophobicdomains,basedonanincreasedscatteringintensityanddecreasedblobsizerelativetothatobservedforPOEGMAhydrogelspreparedwithouttheOLAco-monomer.ThepresenceofhydrophobicOLAdomainsincreasestheuptakeandslowsthereleaseofbovineserumalbumin,aproteinwell-knowntoassociatewithhydrophobicdomains.Coupledwiththeobservedcytocompatibilityofthereactiveprecursorpolymersusedtopreparethehydrogels,weanticipatesignificantpotentialapplicationsofthesehydrogelsfortheprolongedreleaseofhydrophobiccargoes.[詳細(xì)]

Investigation of the Hydration of Nonfou領(lǐng) Material Poly（ethylene glycol） by Low-Field Nuclear Mag Thestrongsurfacehydrationlayerofnonfou領(lǐng)materialsplaysakeyroleintheirresistancetononspecificproteinadsorption.Poly（ethyleneglycol）（PEG）isaneffectiveexampleofmaterialsthatcanresistnonspecificproteinadsorptionandcelladhesion.Thus,thestronginteractionbetweenwatermoleculesandPEGwasinvestigatedthrougheachT2componentinwater/PEGmixturesusingmultiexponentialinversionofT2relaxationtimemeasuredbytheCarrPurcellMeiboomGill（CPMG）sequenceoflow-fieldnuclearmagneticresonance（LF-NMR）.Resultsshowthataboutonewatermoleculeistightlyboundwithoneethyleneglycol（EG）unit,andadditionalwatermoleculesover1:1ratiomainlyswellthePEGmatrixandarenottightlyboundwithPEG.Thisresultwasalsosupportedbytheendothermicbehaviorofwater/PEGmixturesmeasuredbydifferentialscanningcalorimetry（DSC）.Itisbelievedthatthemethoddevelopedcouldbealsoappliedtoinvestigatevariousinteractionsbetweenmacromoleculesandothersmallmoleculeswithoutusingdeuteriumsamples,whichmightopenanovelroutetoquantitativelymeasureguesthostinteractionsinthefuture.[詳細(xì)]
