• Physicochemical characterization of an Indian traditional medicine, Jasada Bhasma detection of nanop

  Herbsandmineralsaretheintegralpartsoftraditionalsystemsofmedicineinmanycountries.Herbo-MineralmedicinalpreparationscalledBhasmaareuniquetotheAyurvedicandSiddhasystemsofIndianTraditionalMedicine.Thesepreparationshavebeenusedsincelongandareclaimedtobetheveryeffectiveandpotentdosageform.However,thereisdearthofscientificanalyticalstudiescarriedoutontheseproducts,andeventheexistingonessufferfromincompleteanalysis.JasadaBhasmaisauniquepreparationofzincbelongingtothisclass.Thisparticularpreparationhasbeensuccessfullyusedbytraditionalpractitionersforthetreatmentofdiabetesandage-relatedeyediseases.ThisworkpresentsafirstcomprehensivephysicochemicalcharacterizationofJasadaBhasmausingmodernstate-of-the-arttechniquessuchasX-rayphotoelectronspectroscopy(XPS),inductivelycoupledplasma(ICP),elementalanalysiswithenergydispersiveX-rayanalysis(EDAX),dynamiclightscattering(DLS),andtransmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM).OuranalysisshowsthattheJasadaBhasmaparticlesareinoxygendeficientstateandaclearlyidentifiablefractionofparticlesareinthenanometersizerange.ThesepropertieslikeoxygendeficiencyandnanosizeparticlesinJasadaBhasmamightimpartthetherapeuticpropertyofthisparticulartypeofmedicine.[詳細(xì)]
